The India that I've experienced this summer was indeed, a life changing lesson. Having seen the sunshine smiles on the faces of the kids on the block and felt the hospitality of the dear homes of the madams working day and night to feed their children only the most delicious foods of exuberant colors made me realize that there is no other way in the world to celebrate humanity. Poverty is a lingering criminal in the shadows under the monsoon season here in Mumbai, but independent organizations reach out helping hands to educate children, empower women, and generate incomes for the families. The fight against reality for these people may slow them down from time to time. But I feel that it is not an endless war, nor a meaningless struggle. The ladder has steps yet to climb for these people to break out of their set classes in society, but blind faith binds all members of the society together to endure the hardships, and place a roof over each other's head when the storm comes pouring down in their villiage. Two girls testify, with a big grin lighting up their faces: Education is power. It brings you to your own two feet. Faith is carried down to babies yet to bloom their future.
