Well hello all!
Our first real entry...
What a time so far. Our first few days were spent with Jenny, Roger, and Rachael in Burlington, ON. What hosts! What a beautiful place... First night was spent dining at The Rude Native for tasty Thai food (strangely not far from a place called August 8). Next day was a trip out to Niagra Falls to ride the Maid of the Mist, sprawled on the grass hill overlooking the falls for a cheese, bread, & olive lunch (gorgeous!), & Clifton Hill. As Ben put it, "Next to a Wonder of the World, a Wonder Why in the World." 3&4-D movies, wax museums, fudge factories... it was like Planet Hollywood w/ 1/4 of the budget & on crack. Finished off the eve in Niagra on the Lake, another beautiful spot. A bit "old fogey" but beautiful ;) Dine in at The Cork (highly recommended - best if you can snag a spot on the patio).
Next day was a trip to T-dot (O-dot-R-dot-O-dot-N-dot-T-dot-O-dot) to live up to our Tourist status. It was Black Bull to charge up with some grub & a pint, then off to check out the CBC, Much Music, & Hockey Hall of Fame buildings. Then of course, the CN Tower... A bunch of stupid world records were set there, like time to take a pumpkin up the stairs, longest stunt fall, etc. Standing on the glass floor might seem easy, but definitely makes you nauseous. Thanks J,R,& R, for a wonderful experience in Torana!
On the road again... Kingston, home of The Hip. What a town! Johnnie & Julie's place was fantastic - perfect size, style, yard, decore - we want it! A short stay here, regretablly... So it was our first Rugby game (against the Brits), a visit to Fort Henry (amazing view!), drive by of the Hips homes (thanks Julie), and some fun times at The Iron Duke on Wellington, Johnnie's pub. If you're ever in town, stop in there for great food & company. The pub has set the bar for environmental friendliness. We'll be back Kingston! Too little time my friend.
Next stop, Montreal to chill with Sax, the aunts & cousins. A chill first night spent sipping Mojitio's, people watching, & late night bagels & coffee's on the stoop - britt's fav! Our timing to visit was perfect, gay pride is on - bring on The Village! Sax was in a show, so we walked about The Village people watching, sipping beer, & taking it all in. Some hilarious things happened, but all round, pretty normal. The most exciting was a topless, 6'4", transvestite with a pink afro getting hasselled by the cops. A few "leave'er alone!"s and they let her be. Next day didn't disappoint - Met up with Hezzie, Ed, & the boys at their place for some juicy tomatoes, breakfast, & beautiful day. Just before we had to hop on another plane, Hez & Sax took us around to see Old Montreal. Missed out on Phoebe & Liz time :( but we'll get ya next time!!
Crossing the seas to England, but that's another story!!
Much Love,
The VonDubs!
