My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My name is Elena Kilina, born in Far East of Russia, on the border with China and Mongolia. Probably thats why I have strong interest to travelling, moving and so-called nomadism.
I've been studying in Siberia, Shanghai and Sweden with major of Asian studies with Chinese and Japanese focus. Currently I'm involved in project with Chinese culture and education in Spain.
My obsession with the camera began five years ago with a professional Sony model. However, I was soon turned on to film cameras such as her Minolta, Zenit, Kiev and Holga, preferring the style of vintage and old-fashioned photography. I was enjoying to participate in some amateur photo-contests (in 2008 my work earned first place in "Daily China," a photo competition held in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, in January 2008.
I would like to take part in this project in order to work with real professionals of photography and gain an experience in such exotic place as Oman. I think my Asian background and passion to nomad cultures will help to create delicate compositions and find surprising visual metaphors. For me freedom of moving and chance to capture around world is a key of happiness.
