TORIAJA travel across the life

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Take a travel is exciting for me. How do I make travel plans, sit alone on the train, look for interesting sights, meet with new people in the terminal, ask strangers about the right street and take a moment of silence to observe life around. For me, traveling is the fastest way to learn about history, culture, geography, and life cycle. Travelling teaches us how to be a humans.
Why do I travel? Because I want to understand. Trip to Tana Toraja is like spiritual journey through life. I conclude, they spend day after day to earn money to send away their dead properly. buffaloes and pigs were sacrificed, the mens dance, and foods & drinks for guests. High-class Toraja will be buried in a cave or on a steep cliff that will be kept by the Tau-tau. That culture has drowned me into a simple lifestyle, respect for differences & taught me how to be grateful.
Photography also helped me to make sense of each trip. Every time I go to sights or traditional ceremonies, peering through a viewfinder makes me think deeply. I love to take pictures when I travel because I want to share a lot of things to people in the city. That the world is vast and life isn't only in the city.
My name is Khalilan Lambangsari, 21 years old wanderer who is still studying in Bandung Institute of Technology, majoring in Bioengineering.
