My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Tanzania | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos
Hi! I'm a 33 year old Australian living in Tanzania, East Africa. I have studied Middle Eastern music and dance for more than a decade.
In 2010, I quit my advertising job to follow the gypsy dancing trail from India through the Middle East and into Spain.
During my travels I acquired a second hand Canon SLR and completed a beginner workshop in Singapore which taught me to look closely at my subject and absorb the moment and my surroundings. Then I continued my travels around the world and settled in Tanzania in July 2010 to accept a volunteer photography role at a charity funded school.
I love taking my camera out into the community and capturing the innocence of children at play, the proud Mama's and the age-wrinkled labouring elders.
After reading about your opportunity, I knew this is the challenge that I'm ready to step-up and take my photography to the next level.
To learn alongside a photographer of such high calibre, representing such a well respected title would be the opportunity of a life time to help take me from hobby photographer to capturing my surroundings at a new level so that I can share the positive faces of poverty, religion and tradition with the
world.
