My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Cambodia | Tuesday, November 8, 2011 | 3 photos

A long the riverside of Phnom Penh, capital city of Cambodia where was a moment of emotion occurred? A mother carried her baby standing in front of the shop begging for money. Her long breath blew out while tiredness was written on her thin face. At that time, a handicap guy was sitting on the wheel chair moving closely to me and handed his cap to ask for money while another lady was sitting on the sidewalk with her child sleeping on the floor. With such a situation, I got shock and deep breath. I could get closely to the point, what is life?
These series of photos represent the connection of the beggars action which is the way life. In order to survive for today and waiting for tomorrow coming, they have to work hard during night time.
I have submitted three photos to apply for Travel Photography Scholarship to South Africa, I am sure that these photos not only view about Cambodia street life, but also million of people who live in poverty . I don’t think it’s a new topic of discussion about poverty, but this issue seems hiding in the shadow. I strongly believe that these photos will remind the world about the living situation of poor people.
I used to experience in photography adventure alone to different part of Cambodia as well as neighboring countries, and I always wish, one day I’m going to have a chance to join travel photography with professional photographer. Thus, that’s a great opportunity for me to learn and practice as well as get experience of travel photography in South Africa. I expect to capture not only beautiful landscape and wild life, but also the living situation of South African. Consequently, I surly hope that my commitment and passionate interest of travel photography will be the first priority to be award the scholarship to South Africa.
