Tom Otieno is an African photographer with keen interest in telling African stories in their original and most interesting way through the same medium
He has been steadily following this tough path with little resource in terms of learning opportunities and hope to make it in future by becoming a resourcesful point to upcoming and budding photographers
Through critique and quest to be a good communicator in this field, he has shown great improvement in his photographing graph
My (Tom Otieno) Photography has been mainly centered on the Kenyan person’s day to day life. His/her happiness and sadness. His struggle to elitism and the changing face of his behavior
his aggresiveness to make it through tommorrow to his down right displeasure and loss.
The face of the human and animal habitat is rapidly changing face and with a few very good photographers a lot will go undocumented and if they are they will be expressed not professionally. Africa is a lovely continent with very rich culture.
From birth to death, sports to conflict, the color that comes with these culturally abhored activities gives the African photographer a great range of stories to tell and make improve them
I have been keenly following ( through photography) how “beautiful houses” are taking the spaces earlier stood our forests and making the continent a hot pot that will one day be impossible to comfortably live in
As a powerful medium of comunication photography is yet to rest on the position it is supposed to , especially in these parts of Africa - East Africa due to the minimal in numbers of polished photographers
It will go a long way if I am chosen to be a part of this dream photographic community and will be an asset not only to the lovers and consumers of photography around me but a coming generation will benefit from the humble experience i will carry back.
