Escuela Los Pargos

COSTA RICA | Sunday, 21 March 2010 | Views [699]

This week I visited the local school at Playa Negra.call Escuela Los Pargos.Lucky for me there was a uni student from San Jose who spoke English. He was at the school as part of his training,he chose this school as he is a surfer. He asked the Principle (Director) if I couls volunteer to teach English?I started on the spot.returning 2 days later.I have LOTS of Spanish to learn, the children are gorgeous.I end each lesson with a game which is the highlight(usually very noisy, with lots of laughter).the school is given 400,00 colones ayear for funding=$800USD.So as you can imagine that does not go far. There is no phone, computers and little supplies. We played musical chairs(table and chair are one unit-mesa&silla)one silla collapsed during game as you can see.On Lunes(Monday) I am taking a fisica(physical)class with the senior futbal(soccer) team, the people here are soccer crazy.
