I am a new graduate from the Philippines with a passion and belief in photojournalism as a means to tell stories. I just graduate cum laude from the University of the Philippines with a journalism degree. My undergraduate senior thesis was about the status of women photojournalists in the Philippines, which gave me the chance to meet and speak with many working photojournalists that were a minority in the field, in one of the most dangerous countries to be a journalist. When I was a junior, I had my internship at Reuters News in Manila as a photographer and shot two photo essays on my own--about teenage pregnancy in Manila and the other about Filipino photojournalists. I am passionate about photojournalism as well as travel and design and hope to someday expand on the research I did for my thesis on photojournalists in the Philippines. I would be truly grateful for the opportunity to grow more as a person and photographer through this experience.
