Tales of an overprivileged teenager

About katische

Katische loves to travel. Perhaps she was just born that way. Perhaps her father had a lot to do with it. He was always bringing back silly t-shirts (“My Dad travelled to Guam and all I got was this silly t-shirt”), chocolates and toys from his latest business trip. Or perhaps she was bitten by the bug when her parents moved to Papua New Guinea in 1990 and lived in the capital Port Moresby for seven years. Holidays were filled with adventures, hanging out with the other “boarding school kids” at local island and included a cruise down the Sepik River.

In the summer holidays of 1991 Katische went on high school exchange to Essen in Germany, and from there the love of a solo adventure increased. Her parents took her on a road trip of California instead of going to schoolies :)  After dutifully starting and finishing both her Bachelor and Masters Degree in Marketing, she back packed around Europe then lived in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and finally London.

Since then she’s lived mainly in rural and regional Australia, citing Port Macquarie, North Rothbury, Singleton, Griffith, Ipswich, Glass House Mountains, Witta and recently Brisbane as home. Talk about a case of itchy feet.

After getting married, having children and getting divorced, she has re-ignited her passion for travel. Travel is now a necessity of life, not just a luxury. It is how she gains perspective on life, and expands her knowledge. Due to the primary school age of her children, she travels domestically, however, now that they are bigger, is excited to adventure further abroad.
