My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Puerto Rico | Friday, October 21, 2011 | 5 photos

My name is Katie Webb, I am a Tennessee native who wants to be a photographer. I have liked photography since I received my first camera when I was 7. However, my love for photography really began to blossom when I was 15. At that age I began taking pictures of everything in sight. My favorite type of photography is nature/scenery/wildlife shots, but I also love the photo shoot I have done of people. So far, I have done a few senior picture shoots, maternity and newborn shoots, and some miscellaneous photo shoots. The pictures that I have submitted I took while I was on a trip in Paris. The entire city is amazingly photo worthy, but these five are my favorites out of the 1046 that I took. I think the Inverted Pyramid aptly captures the modern side of Paris. The picture of the car with a flat tire outside of the cafe, depicts the slow, carefree pace of the old part of the city. The photo of the cafe captivates how all of the Parisian cafes are at lunch time; full of life, yet leisurely. The picture of the Eiffel Tower with the carousel shows that even in a ancient, sophisticated city such as Paris, there is still fun to be had. The picture of the Eiffel Tower at night illustrates that even in the dark, the Eiffel Tower is still breath taking. The older I get, the more in love I fall with photography. My dream is to one day open a small gallery/studio in my home town. If I were to be selected for this photography scholarship to South Africa, I know that I would learn so much from Mr.Edwards. I have always been a calisthenic learner, and learning about photography in a wildlife setting, such as South Africa, would be an ideal "class room" for me. If I were to be selected for this excursion I would be an eager, enthusiastic, and attentive learner.
