My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Dear Team,
I’ve spent most of my life educating others on biodiversity, environmental sustainability and cultural diversity using a pen, key board and camera. To make ends meet I’ve dabbled in just about everything. This past fall I jumped into photojournalism full time. Currently I do all of my “work” for free. I’d like to make the transition into a professional but need a little bit of help! Being an artist, I understand composition. Being a listener, I have no problem asking a question and offering both of my ears and an open heart. Being a writer, I know how to tell a story. I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many incredible places in the world in pursuit of endless curiosity, photographing landscapes and people who fascinate me. The act of listening is the greatest gift we have. The most powerful way to convey a message is to highlight its importance through photography and to tell the story through the eyes of those living it.
I’m currently collecting stories on the impacts environmental devastation has on human health and the emotional and psychological impacts our disconnection with nature and cultural heritage has on a community.
Sincerely,
Katie
