Travel Photography Scholarship 2012entry

Bosnia & Herzegovina | Tuesday, November 13, 2012 | 5 photos

I’m twenty eight- female that is originally from Durban South Africa, my parents are from Zimbabwe and in 1996 we immigrated to the UK. I moved to London when I was twenty one and have been living and working to fund time off to explore the world.

I went travelling by myself for three months in 2010 without much money or any set road to follow. I had read a book called the Cellist of Sarajevo, and decided to catch a bus from Split in Croatia up to Mostar and Sarajevo. I went armed with my old Nikon D40 and found that taken photographs gave meaning to my day and purpose to my travels; from there I ended up in Spain and walked the Camino Di Santiago – 400km in new shoes and 15kg on my back- I had left the rest of my luggage at a bus station in Salamanca. I then travelled to Morocco and spent some time in Tangier taking photographs.

I work in London and commute in everyday from my parent’s house, not ideal but then again neither is the cost of living in London.

This sounds like an amazing opportunity and a wonderful way to gain the experience and knowledge to become a travel photographer, which my heart leans to.
