My Photo scholarship 2010 entry
Kenya | Sunday, October 17, 2010 | 5 photos
My name is Katherine Fraser and I’m nineteen year old college student looking for an experience of a lifetime. The photos that I chose for my application are very dear to me, they are photographs from one of the best memories I will achieve. I am a very passionate and curious person. I constantly look for adventures and new things to discover.
I have a very solid foundation in my beliefs and morals. They have helped me look at the world in a whole different viewpoint than the ordinary person. I see the beauty in the things that most people would avoid. My eyes are wide open for new adventures that will spread Truth, Love, and Peace. This passion has led me through so many different situations in which I learned incredible things. I am so grateful I was able to experience them.
I never thought I would have the chance to impact an entire town of people. But three years ago I was presented with an offer to travel to Bungoma, Kenya. The photos that I’ve presented are from this particular trip. It was an incredible life experience that has left me with fervor to learn more about cultures and travel around the world. Traveling to Africa also sparked my dream of becoming a photo journalist, and hopefully finding a way to work for National Geography someday.
I handpicked these photographs specifically to depict the amount of beauty that Africa showed to me. I traveled all over Kenya and even into Tanzania and even though I did see despair and poverty, the abundance of joy that I also saw was overwhelming. The people, adults and children alike, are so incredible, and all have an amazing story to tell. They always hold a special place in my heart, and I pray I will be able to impact more people around the world.
Thank you for Considering me.
