My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
New Zealand | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos
I have grown up on National Geographic. As a child every school holiday was spent with my Grandparents at their house, pouring over their massive collection of National Geographic magazines, cutting out the pictures, glueing them to my walls (literally- much to my Mums horror) and creating scrap books of all the places I would one day go and see. When people asked what it was I wanted to be "when I grew up" it was always A PHOTOGRAPHER FOR NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC!! This was my dream. As an adult I have followed a vastly different path. Upon finishing school I decided to "take a year off study to travel". This "year" turned into ten (also much to my Mums horror) and "travel" led me to the beautiful South Island of New Zealand. I still love National Geographic and my walls are still decorated with photos of places I one day hope to see, although these days I tend to use picture frames as opposed to a glue stick... When I saw the ad for a scholarship... I could. not. believe it. What an opportunity, seriously. I certainly fall into the amateur category, but I am so keen to learn and would make the most of every moment. Thank you for your consideration.
