My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Philippines | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | flickr photos
My Name is Kat and I am a self-taught photographer. Like everyone else who's starting in photography, way back 2007, I wanted to show the world through my eyes.
However, as I have been traveling extensively within the Philippines, I had a great realization in my photography. It is a fact that all photographers see the world in a different perspective but only a few dare to act differently. I believe that a photographer should be the catalysts and spearheads to change. When a photographer transcends to more than just seeing the world in his/her eyes and using his/her photos or "works of art" for humanitarian and environmental pursuits, he/she is a revolutionary photographer.
Having said that, I submit my entries World Nomads as I am a revolutionary photographer. My greatest achievement so far was, I was able to help a small community drive away illegal miners through my photos. I am confident that whatever I will learn through the scholarship will be very helpful in my environmental and environmental projects in my home country. I want to learn how to take photos that people will not only like but will inspire them to act and change the world in small or in big ways.
