It was a blessing in disguise that our dog went out of our house, so my brother and i had to go look for him. If he hadn't gone out, i would not have come across these girls. It was a very hot day and i was wondering what they were doing out at around noon time.They told me they were out to buy "iced candy", which is perfect for the hot day! I did not have my camera at first, but good thing our house was near. I asked the girls if it would be okay if i took photos of them and with a shy smile, they approved.
My hope for this entry is that people will see the simple joys in life; may it be the joy of having someone hold your hand, or the joy having a nice iced candy on hot sunny day.

I am Karla Evangelista, from Cebu Philippines. I love photography because of its abilty to bring us to back to our memories and its ability to convey emotions or tell a story. And as a photographer, I believe those are what i should be doing; capture memories and tell stories. Apart from that i also believe that I should share through photos the beauty of nature. I still have a lot to learn, and i'm hoping this scholarship will be my ticket. =)

I love the outdoors and nature. I love to be in new places and to meet new people. Although i may not have travelled far yet, i believe that my adventurous and curious personality is very well suited for this assignment in South Africa. To be able to capture and experience the beauty of South Africa, and to work with and learn from world famous photographer Mr. Jason Edwards on this assignment, would simply be AMAZING!!
