My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

I was fortunate enough to grow up on a farm in Western Queensland. It was this upbringing that has provided me with the unique understanding of the importance of preserving the natural beauty that flora and fauna has to offer. From a young age I was surrounded by unique and exciting landscapes that inspired me to capture on film the moments that so many take for granted.
My enthusiasm for photography stems from a young age and has continued to grow since the purchase of my SLR camera. I am currently working as an Advanced Care Paramedic and was recently posted to Far North Queensland. Being situated in this vast and unique territory allows me to spend my days off traveling in search of new inspiration for new photographic experiences and opportunities, as well as adventure.
An ideal day of combining both my passion for nature’s beauty and photography and maximising the variety of the Far North Queensland landscape would include; a sunrise on the Tablelands, the discovery of a hidden waterfall, a steep hike around Gordonvale, overlooking a tropical paradise, and a view of the rainforest canopy. It is photos of these magnificent experiences that I have chosen to share with you.
The opportunity to travel throughout Africa in order to experience all that a country so different from my own has to offer and capture this magic on film whilst continuing to develop my photographic skills is one that excites and inspires me.
