some get knocked out.... while some work through the day, some take naps in between. he could also be knocked out drunk

some folks work hard for a living.

in the afternoon heat, they were still fishing

some are lonely, contemplating the past.

in India, its believed that once you get scared of the sea, you musnt go boating or fishing in the sea or the sea would curse you! old people are not allowed to go fishing either. this old man could be thinking of the days when he could go fishing.
