My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

I should be chosen for the Travel Scholarship because I think it would be a rewarding career to take pictures and see the world in a different light. I enjoy traveling and meeting new people, and would love to see South Africa. I love photography, the challenge to take a better photo, to use a different light or shadow, to show off where I live and what I see. I walk around my hometown (Des Moines, WA) a lot, and what I see isn’t all that nice or pleasant, but it’s better to show it then pretend it isn’t there, or isn’t happening. I’d love to take my photography to another level, but I’m not quite sure what I’d need to do to get there. I’ve had my photos published online (experiencewa.com), and in a gallery showing of photographs of the state of Washington, by Washington photographers, but I know I am capable of taking it further. I’m hoping somewhere new, and a mentor who has been there, that can and will help me with that.
