My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Sri Lanka | Monday, January 14, 2013 | flickr photos
There’s little doubt that for me photography has always been in my blood. It started most likely from observing my father capturing his own photos and then developing them at home. I suppose I always knew that I wanted to seize a moment to last a lifetime so for the past 18 something years I have always been drawn to those special moments in nature, a smile or a frown on a person and I’m absolutely fascinated by how natural light can bring so much character to something. Photography was always a hobby for me even though it was always on a freelance basis as I worked full time in Quality Management in Melbourne, Australia. Having lived and worked there for 13 years, I decided to take a break from my hectic lifestyle and return to Sri Lanka, where I was born, to pursue my dream as a photographer. Having returned to Sri Lanka after pondering on a number of options, I decided it best to give photography a try as it is what I love. I’m certain this scholarship would open up a world of opportunities for me to make my dream a reality. Going through my work, I hope you will be able to see what I see and feel the passion that I felt in that moment that I wanted to seiz, to last a lifetime.
