    At Darjeeling, a city hanging off a cliff in the nothern area of West Bengal, the most practical way to move around is by Jeep. Here a young boy calmly oversees the frantic activity going on in the main jeep stop, as people look for rides. by: kainet Views[519] At the main market of Darjeeling, the power of contrasts which is so characteristic of indian life can be seen in all its beauty. by: kainet Views[280] Waiting for the Darjeeling Mail at Kolkata's Sealdah station, the atmosphere is hectic, as people run from one side to another. Here a man transports a container of food to a soon-to-depart train. by: kainet Views[462] Arriving at Sealdah train station, Kolkata, we were greeted by a market where a group of men were moving massive sacks of goods to and from trucks. In india what there is no lack of is manpower, and it was impressive to see tasks done with bare hands, which in europe would always be done by heavy machinery by: kainet Views[307] When you first face the streets ok Kolkata bustling with people its hard to not feel washed away by the current of activity. Carrying burdens on the head has been a common practice since ancient times and in India it is still a part of everyday life. by: kainet Views[444]
