the hidden jewel

All it took was a moment. A single defining moment in a persons life to realize life isn't always what it seems.
As I sat there staring at the water, the way the suns rays gently kissed the surface of the lake. Remembering the freedom I felt just a few hours earlier cycling through the streets of Prague for the first time.
It was the most magical feeling! The wind on my face the sun leaving a lingering effect managing its way through the cold air
One call was all it took to shatter my world, “he is dead!” the words hit me like a million shards. This city that only moments ago filled me with such joy and hope now replaced with a loathe. I pressed my body up against the railing. Just metal standing in-between the water and myself. Every memory of pain and hurt seemed to be staring back at me in my reflection.
All my life I had played out this moment, to be standing tall miles away from home and having this moment of pleasure. That feeling of adrenaline as I soared through the streets playfully engaging the locals. They made me feel strong and invincible.
I look up at the bridge that casts its shadow over the river. Parts of the city in ruins. Buildings with all their cracks and crevices. Old and rundown yet meters away here stands this mighty river! Something so simply yet its beauty was timeless. A jewel.
A single moment of realization that everything in life was going to be okay because even beauty can emerge out of ruins.
