I've been in Spain for one month today.
Living in Madrid, with my senora, trying to learn the language.
I've learned a lot, but of course, nothing has been like I had imagined.
So far, I can name the things I will miss about Spain when I leave:
Tortilla Espanola.
Chocolate y Churros.
My senora's cooking in general.
Vale.
My senora calling me carino.
Public transportation.
Living in the city. (I'm a suburbanite back home)
The adventure of it all.
Things I will NOT miss:
The B.O. involved with the public transportation.
The overwhelming feeling of not knowing what's going on because you cannot understand everything 100%.
The dollar/euro exchange rate.
P.D.A. it's bad here.
Things I can't for back home:
Friends. Family. My pets.
SUNNY florida.
American TV. sad, I know.
Goals for the rest of my time in Spain:
Stay on top of my schoolwork.
Partake in the intercambios on campus.
Adventure more. Alone.
Travel at every opportunity.
Talk to my senora at least double what I do now.
I forgot to write last week. What you missed: Cordoba and Sevilla.
Cordoba- Jewish Museum y La Mesquita. Hand of Fatima.
Sevilla- 2.5 soaking wet walking tour. Best hotel dinner ever. Gorgeous weather the following day, la Catedral y Plaza de Espana.
This weekend we went to las montanas, to cotos, so Ali could see snow. She did. It was good to get out of the city, the train ride provided relaxation time and hang out time for me, kristen, ali, and rachel. The mountains were gorgeous, snow capped and perfect. We hiked a little, I'd like to go back and hike up to la laguna.
Right now, I'm in an I love Spain phase. Which is strange, because I miss everyone at home more than ever... Travelling's funny that way. There's an inner dichotomy of what you left behind and what adventures lie ahead. The people that you long to share your new experiences with, but the desire to chart the unknown ahead.
