VIETNAM | Thursday, 19 April 2007 | Views [444] | Comments [1]

Well this is our last day of our very spectacular holiday in Vietnam and Cambodia here are some of the experiences we have had along the way.

On Day one we caught very long plane trip to Siem Reap in Cambodia (which was awesome, we loved take off) and we arrived at our hotel. Our instant
impression of Cambodia was unreal. The lifestyle in which they live is just so different to ours. They are poverty stricken, more of their population live on the streets, under tarps, in self made bamboo houses.

We have visited many temples- which are known as the 'Ankor Wat'temples,
They are all built in the 12th century and each is filled with intricate
detail; carvings, prayer grounds, buddhas, and stories from kings and the people from that era.

Everywhere we have been in Vietnam and Cambodia, we have been bombarded with men, women, and children as little as two years old begging "1 dollar 1 dollar". They constantly beg for money or for you to buy their goods. As soon as you make eye contact with one of them, they are convinced they have a sale. We have learnt this phrase well- "Tay, akun". It means "No, thankyou" in Cambodia. Also we have learnt "cam, camern" which means "no, thankyou" in vietnamese. "sin chow" means hello in vietnamese, "choy oy" means "oh my god". Ha. :)

Julia fed an elephant a bunch of bananas! At the terrace of elephants in Ankor thom. We also rode on a tuk-tuk, which is a little motorbike carrying a 2 seater on the back. It was awesome, it gave us the chance to observe the street life which surrounded us. Such a thrilling experience.

We also went to the 'Muong Hoa Valley'. We descended through the misty
mountains by foot. It was absolutely breathtaking. Despite the cold and the mud which we treked through. We then returned to my luxurious hotel for a pampering- Sauna, steam room, jacouzzi, and finally a full body massage.

We have been gathering a small collection of bits and pieces as souveneers where ever we go.Our bags are packed full and are down in the lobby ready for our 8 hour flight back home.

The various experiences we have had as a group will hold memories that we will forever carry with us.

love us three xxxxxox

Hi you three. Thanks so much for your writings. Have been anxiously checking every day and have been hungering for information so do appreciate your impressions. Sounds wonderful and guess I will learn more eventually when Emma gets home and has lots of sleep. Won't ask too many questions till then. Enjoy your trip home.
