My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it. As a photographer, I strive to be the window to the world, exploiting all that it offers. As my journeys take me beyond traditional vacationing destinations, I act as an ambassador showing those I encounter that affluent people are similar to themselves; struggling, striving for happiness and security. My purpose is to live with eyes open wide and share my experiences, refute stigmas, and shed light on our interdependence with one another.
While traveling, my adventures provide answers. They shape my personality. They introduce me to new ideas, philosophies, food, etiquette and cultures.
Gaining a deep understanding in taking a conceptualized image and turning it into a concrete photograph, which brings to light the world’s damning practices, all of its beauty and diverse human population, is my ultimate goal as an aspiring photographer.
I hope to use lessons from traveling in numerous developing countries coupled with this incredible mentorship in an open forum introducing new ideologies, inspiring people to challenge their mentalities regarding ecological responsibility, and discover the infinite beauty that is planet Earth.
