My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Worldwide | Sunday, September 11, 2011 | flickr photos

These photos were taken on a 5 month trip in India and Nepal from November 2010 - April 2011. I took thousands of photos over the duration of the trip. It is such a huge and varied country, I did my best to see as much as i possibly could there and returned with a very eclectic mix of photos, the photos selected for my entry are those that i feel are not only i some of my best images from the trip but also those that really represent my experience of India and the constant contrast of chaos and serenity that i found there. Anyway I'm a 22 year old photography student studying in Bristol, England. Ever since finishing school my two passions have been photography and travel. I have spent the last two years working as an English teacher in England and also voluntarily while travelling in Madagascar, India and Nepal. To be selected for assignment would be such an amazing opportunity and experience and would be of huge benefit. To work for the national geographic, travelling the world visiting incredible locations is something that almost every photographer must dream about so to be able to experience this even for just eight days would be absolutely amazing. I have limited experience in the world of professional photography just bits and pieces of assistant work and a few assignments so working with a professional photographer of Jason Edwards' calibre and to see what it takes to become a photographer for the national geographic would be an amazing and hugely beneficial experience. The photos I have submitted are not really wildlife or landscape based but I feel I am a very versatile photographer and i hope you can see the potential in my work, I also hope I've been able to convey my enthusiasm for this competition and just how much it would mean to me if I was to win.
