My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

United Kingdom | Saturday, May 18, 2013 | 5 photos

5 things I love to discover are new food, people, places, music and lifestyles – and documenting them.

I lived in Malaysia for the last 19 years, until recently when I got the chance to study in the UK. For the first time ever, I saw seasons change in colour from gold to white, then pink and green again. I would show my family the photos, and blog about the things I do during the weekends: trips around the country by train, horse riding lessons, and even my silly attempt at pole dancing.

My camera is like a writer’s pen to me. I want to remember the faces I see, people’s feelings at that moment of time and my own. I want to be able to tell how warm, full and contented I felt on a cold, blank winter’s day. I want to journey as far as I can and return to share with my friends the new cultures, recipes, fashion, songs and scenery that come before me.

I am not a person without fear. I can be shy, and I am nervous when I get lost at someplace unfamiliar. My desire to get better photos drives me to step outside my comfort zone, make new friends and travel further. I am certain that this Greenland adventure will broaden my mind, an experience that I can only imagine for now.
