Finding freedom in the wild

Mrtvica Canyon

Being chosen for this opportunity would be a proof that I am moving in the right direction. I always wanted to be a writer and I've been journaling since age 5. Two years ago I started my travel blog to share my experiences with other people. I connected with several airlines, embassies and travel organisations and went on organized trips, from which I reported in local online and offline media as well as my blog.
Although I graduated from a business school, writing was always my sweet escape. My little treat after a hard day, my way to express my feelings, to share my passion with the world. Eventually, I realized that the opportunities that I created for myself in my life where never due to money, or connections, they were fully due to writing. I figured, if I can't pay tuition for a great business school in the US, I can write my way into a full scholarship. If I couldn't afford to travel to Dubai, Israel, Montenegro, Iceland...I can write myself into it. Writing myself into winning Austrian Airlines Global Blogger Challenge last year enabled me to fly 50000 miles for free.
People can feel my words coming to life from their screens, no matter where they are, or how much money they have, I give them a solid proof that they too can travel for practically free and live the life they always dreamed of.
Getting this opportunity would be a chance to improve myself as a travel writer, to gain insightful tips and first hand knowledge from the experts in this field.

This was answer to About Me question, the entry about Mrtvica Canyon is here:

I slipped on a wet leaf and landed on the muddy ground. Sticky moss was bonding my fingers. Fallen leaves were covering the canyon like a large, colorful carpet with a strong scent of wood. Suddenly, a little creature appeared in front of me and I stayed put so as not to scare him. It was a black triton with neon yellow dots. The whole situation seamed surreal to me, having set in the office just two days before daydreaming of an adventure like this one. I found myself in Mrtvica canyon by a sudden strike of serendipity. The switch from 5th floor of my building office space to 1500m above sea level happened after quitting my full time job and decided to take up travel blogging more seriously. I got collaboration with the Montenegro National Tourism Organization and here I was in a new and unfamiliar surrounding far from the urban city culture. It seemed like my desktop background was coming to life. My eyes were overwhelmed, collecting images of the view of clear green water, pink and yellow leaves, big sparkly bubbles and foam from the waterfalls.
The further I went into the canyon the more relaxed I felt. My city life concerns were fading away and I was fully engaged in the experience, being in the now, not rethinking the past or planning out the future. By focusing solely on the steps I make, so I wouldn’t slip again, I felt absolute serenity. Out in the wild, I found freedom. Getting in touch with the nature got me in touch with myself. Going deeper into the canyon, I observed the abundance of vegetation and picked up fresh sage, asparagus, and figs. The road took me to the natural wonder called the Gate of Wishes. It is an amazing place where you are supposed to make a wish, find a random rock and throw it into the water, so it goes right through a small passage made of stones. It is supposedly a magical place where, according to a legend, a fairy from Maganik makes your wish come true. Your wish should be pure and from the bottom of your heart and that is the only way the fairy magic will start.
I encourage you to visit Mrtvica Canyon in spring or autumn, because the vegetation reaches its full potential in that time of the year. Decide to take a step into the unknown and I promise you that you will feel the benefits instantly after entering the surreal scenery of Mrtvica Canyon. You need to get into the wild to reach freedom by letting go of your daily obligations and frustrations. Join me in my pursuit of finding the answers hidden in nature, and let’s take this journey together.
