As if nothing were wrong

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Ecuador | Sunday, November 6, 2011 | 5 photos

I worked for a multinational enterprise for a few years in the past; recently I was working on a development plan in a remote area of Ecuador. I went there pretty sure that my knowledge and skills will help them to improve their situation.

How wrong I was!!!. All these kids seem to have a normal life but they live on a village by a contaminated river by a huge factory, one huge enterprise as huge as the one I worked for. The kids in the village have normal lives although the place where they live in does not allow them for a suitable life and hit me inside, this is an intimate story to share. Live is as if nothing were wrong, when you can´t change anything just keep on living.

I am not sure what to do to help them out, I can´t solve it but I won´t be part of the problem, I feel inside that photography is what I can do and what I am good at, I can´t expect to change anything but at least this is how I can shout out and call attention of the realities I am surrounded by.

The best way to learn is by travelling by meeting people and listening to them. I have learnt to respect and have opened eyes to the real world, to that world that can´t be told can´t be imagined, can only be lived. I personally consider myself as a candidate for the scholarship, I want to play hard but to work hard as well. For me every day is an experience. A new page to write in and writing about this experience in my personal book of life is a dream.
