The worlds inside my world

My first day abroad

CHILE | Tuesday, 11 November 2008 | Views [467]

I took my flight as planed got in the plane at one o'clock Mexico's time. Alone in the plane I was ready to fly to southamerica. The flight took around 9 hours to reach santiago de chile but during the flight I got to see the best sunset of my life with the pacific full of clouds under me. the sun at west and the amazing colors that this dance of the elements produced were just amazing.

When I landed at Chile I had to pay the 32usd required for Mexicans to enter the Country is a tax actually. So money started to dissapear right away. I got out of there where a friendly girl Andrea from couchsurfing was already waiting for me as she offered her help when she realized I needed it trough a post of CS.

She was really nice and took me to the flat of Barbara who also responded to my posts in CS. Barbara was really friendly and there I slept really comfortable. When it was really early in the morning I woke up at 7:30am of Chile eventhough my time was 4:30am because of the jetlag this was really weird so I got ready to hit the town. Barbara and I walked to one main avenue and from there I hit the city by myself she was busy and I had to do that by my own :).

So I got trapped by the emotions of discovering, learning and just kept going for more and more views of the city the curiosity of knowing more about the Chilean capitol city. So I walked enjoyed and waited until it was about time to exchange some money. when this was done I was able to check e-mails, talk to some friends and do usual stuff of printing boarding passes.

Right away I got into the subway, what a different thing from Mexico City's subway. This was clean really clean and organized but alot more expensive than Mexico's. This took me to Baquedano a Place where the Mapocho river runs  really near from this place and headed to one small mountain that  I thought it was santa Lucia but was not after realizing this, I headed walking to the real direction. After this I got to reach the U Catolica a really nice private university and then the small park of Santa Lucia.

Once there the friendly guard surprised by the visit of a Mexican guy welcomed me to the place which I started to climb. The architecture of this place was beautiful because it had huge fountains that looked like castles. Some other hiden corners of this place also make it special. Once I was almost at the summit of this Mountain I turn around and I was amazed by the Georgeous Andes painted with the power of mother nature and imagined only by the power of an endless creative flow.

After this huge impression I walked down to one of the gardens and a sign that said delicious mote here called my attention. So I asked the lady what in the world was "Mote con huesillo" and she explained that it was boiled peach with it's own juice and boiled wheat. So I decided to give it a try. I bought one glass of this and started to enjoy one thing that I might do back in Mexico.

Once I finish that  I started to move around the park taking some pictures with my cameras. I have to say that it seems that you can take more pictures in a foreign country because of the new gamma of images that you can reach or create the new actors and backgrounds that you have.

I walked and tried to reach Barbara calling her to her cellphone which didn't worked. Then got to the U Catolica to have a huge impresion of this University which I admit is really nice and pretty.  The corridors the classrooms and a huge exposition of daguerrotypes which later are produced at large pieces of fabrics in a new technique which is being explored.

I got fascinated by this place but had to continue my way. So I got to the handcrafts market explored it a little but and see the nice things they have and the nice things I could possibly buy. But controlled my self because money is important and anyway weight is more when you're travelling and have more than 20 kg which is the limit of the airline you are going to use.

So I continued walking enjoying the architecture the style and following some interesting places trough a map.
