A young Sevillan girl follows her uncles to the fair grounds. Even the youngest wear classic flamenco dresses to celebrate the festival which dates back to 1847. Fería started as a livestock fair, but eventually transformed into the spectacular celebration that can be seen today.

The grande Portada, pictured here, is lit with 20,000 lightbulbs during La Alumrada, or “The Lighting.” With a flick of the switch, this marks the beginning of the week-long celebration known as Fería de Abríl.

A Sevillan man on horseback travels with his son down the caseta-lined street. Men and women parade the fair grounds on horses and in carriages throughout the day as they travel between casetas, which is where the dancing of sevillanas can be found.
