I am the type of person that cannot travel without a camera.
I first got interested in photography as a teenager but it was only years later that the bug really caught me.
I worked in the Portuguese Air Force as a pilot and that gave me some opportunities to travel and I even lived in the USA for almost a year and a half.
That experience made me fall in love with travelling and getting to know new places and people, something that I don't do more because my wallet won't allow me to.
Photography became a necessity and a passion. Capturing the places I see and the people I come across through the lens, and doing it better each time, became so important I decided to take a professional course after a couple of years of self study, book reading and tutorial watching.
I've since decided to quit my job and pursue life as a photographer because I realised I got more fulfillment out of making good photographs and having people ask me to see more!
I think I should be chosen because I believe we live in a wonderful world and people should experience it. If my photographs can bring that world closer to those who can't travel much or make those who can step out of the door, I'd be very happy!
