My Scholarship entry - Through Local Eyes

In this film, I wanted to give a taste of an alternative version of Greece – a country begging to be explored, where the relaxed life and simple pleasures are cherished. I hope to evoke that innate joy of experiencing something new – memorable experiences can come from everywhere. I love the whole process of filmmaking (aside from tech hiccups); I try to use my own music for the soundtrack, and I especially enjoy experimenting with camera angles. The satisfaction of creating a success is unbeatable. I document much of my life and travels and I occasionally create short films with my family, and I have won some school filmmaking competitions. Having studied geography, my global curiosity has led me to unique and unlikely places. It is my ultimate aim to be a documentary filmmaker and photographer, observing the world’s most fascinating peoples, and helping and exposing those striving for a fairer deal. Mesmerising documentarians are Sebastião Salgado and Werner Herzog. If I won the scholarship to Rio, working artistically with such a vibrant and joyous subject would be an incredible gift – a city-wide inspiration. To have my work widely viewed would be a truly proud moment.
