My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My name is Jordan Matchirski, i'm 24 years old from Bulgaria. I was lucky to have a father, who taught me that there is beauty in the world, everywhere you look. I always found it hard to speak about myself, because i believe actions say more than words, just as a photo can tell a lot about it‘s author. I‘m a man of few words. I enjoy peace, and photography gives me that. For me it‘s like going high up in the mountain on a clear winter day with no wind, when all you can hear is your heart beating.
National Geographic is a dream for any photographer and this scholarship to me is an experience of a lifetime, worth more than any prize. We say in Bulgaria it's to „drink from the source“.No matter how many books your read, practice and hard work is what really pays off.
We live in an amazing world and i feel sad that there is so much beauty everywhere and people don‘t seem to notice it, or even worse, don‘t care about it. So to me photography is a noble deed. Dedicating your life to capture the magic of a moment and pass it on to the future generations, hoping that they could feel what you felt, that you could touch them and change them for better, that‘s something worth living for.
