TITLE: “NOW SHOWING: THE PHILIPPINE FESTIVALS
Fiestas have been part of unique and rich Philippine culture. Fiestas are once warned to be banned because it’s a misuse of peoples’ resources. But it has tolerated the people’s resiliency, unity and perseverance through centuries of colonization through economic challenges and through political turmoil. Distinctive expressions combined with vibrant spectacle of historic and religious re-enactment performed by costumed town folk comprises the treasured experience that is called a fiesta. The whole community comes alive as it wrapped in a splendid festivity. I have photographed the colorful moments of Fiesta that range from strange to the delightful. I have always been captivated by fiesta. I really love taking photos and being part of the Fiesta celebration because it promotes Philippine identity and Filipino values. I hope that more festivals will be discovered and photographed.
The reason why I must be considered for Travel Photography Scholarship is that I’m just a simple man with simple dream but having a great passion in Photography. Getting a scholarship abroad is one of my aspirations in life. Aside from earning an achievement for my family, I would like to give an honor my country while sharing an inspiration and serving as a role model to my fellow youth. When I join competition, I just use a humble digital camera or borrow a dslr from my friend that’ why I would like to have a good set of photography equipment so that I could maximize my passion. As a Photographer, it’s my vision to see the beautiful and unique moments around us and touch the lives of people through power of images. I would really be thankful and blessed enough if I will be chosen for Travel Photography Scholarship. And I want to dedicate it to my beloved country.
