My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

USA | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos

At 13 years old, during the first of many hours spent in the darkroom, I saw for the first time an image I'd shot appear in the dektol. I'd captured the splash from a rock tossed into a lake. Light and contrast were good, I had a nice range of grays, and the focus was sharp enough. I still have the print. Seeing that image appear was magic and I've been hooked ever since. Now, at age 50, my passions include photography and travel. I've pursued a happy, rewarding career as a teacher, but have often wondered if I have the skills to succeed as a professional photographer. I believe I've got the eye, the smarts, the sensitivity and the patience for it. I'd like to find out. The opportunity to observe, assist, and learn from a professional at work would tell me a lot -- thank you for your consideration.
