My Scholarship entry - Do it with passion or not at all

Hi my name is Jon Kohlwey and this is my short story about why I should be chosen.
About 5 years ago my Pops found a camera on the side of the road in our tiny ski town. He put an ad in the paper but after a few months never heard anything. The camera went in storage. 3 years later I got a video camera for Christmas to film my own snowboard videos. That was the year the Nikon 8800 came back as I found it in storage. I'm a visual learner. So instead of reading books I would set the camera to an auto setting, look at the numbers, then go to manual mode and play around with those numbers. I didn't know what the numbers meant but I knew what they did. I would shoot hundreds of shots in one sunset. Then one night in July I got a call that changed my life. My best friend had shot himself over a girl. He had so much passion for life. A perfectionist. An adventurer. A BAMF. Lost in life I thought what would Teal do? So I upgraded my camera, quit my job and moved to Buenos Aires for 4 months teaching and traveling. I feel like his passion has been passed onto me and that passion is photography. My bucket list consists of .traveling the world and get at least one photo in National Geographic.
