Innocence strikes. Spring flare ‘14 is Brisbane’s attempt to acknowledge and celebrate Holi; the ancient Hindu festival of colours. It succeeded. Never before witnessing such positivity and acceptance in a public sphere, I am driven to experience this festival a multitude of times at any given opportunity. Partaking in Holi within Varanasi would mean perfection.

Veteran.
Take your camera with you everywhere; The first lesson. When stumbling across the path of a Vietnam Veteran's march, excitement fills me. Velvia in hand, I set out to find a willing subject for a portrait. Multiple friendly declines later, my view settles upon a lone Veteran preparing towards the back of company. Conversation proceeds; He accepts.

A gift is given.
Casually pacing through the mall, a vibrant yellow movement flickers far off in the direction of my path. I immediately recognise the need for her portrait. Learning from past mistakes, I approach my subject head on. Observing me struggle while determining my shutter, Mary’s persona subsides, allowing me to capture truth.
