3 days of a lifetime

I have always been keen on travelling, discovering all its mysteries, adventures, beauties and emotions. “Travel, the only thing you buy that makes you richer”. That’s why I keep a diary where I write about every travel experience , in order to keep each moment vivid.
Some months ago, unexpectedly, I had the chance to visit Paris. It was my first time in Paris, but also my first time travelling by plane. I started to believe it the moment I heard we were landing in Charles de Gaulle airport. When I arrived at the hotel, in spite of being tired, I could not sleep at all. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw everything that was waiting for me out there.
A brand new day, first morning in Paris..and I was still trying hard to believe it. I had a map of the city but I decided not to use it first. Instead I thought it was a better idea to get lost in the places that would attract my attention. In fact, everything started to attract my attention: the French Gothic architecture, those little romantic cafeterias, the straight streets between the buildings and the main streets where life was flowing normally in a peaceful day of autumn. I walked along the River Seine trying to catch every detail with my camera and I would have done it for many hours, if I had not been reminded that I had a lot of other places to see. That is when I decided to put in use the map. It helped me find the destinations, but still I got lost…I got lost in the miracle of every site I visited, like the magnificent Notre Dame De Paris, Louvre Museum.
The highlight during my stay in Paris, was when I ascended the highest point of the city, The Eiffel Tower. You get an amazing feeling just by looking at it, but I could not imagine how it felt like to be on top of that masterpiece. It was like one of those moments when you can’t distinguish between dreams and reality. Monuments (which I had already seen) in miniature, boats sailing down the Seine, city lights emphasizing the glory of Paris, the whole city and I could hold it in the palm of my hand.
It lasted only 3 days, but it gave me the experience of a lifetime and memories that I will always cherish. I believe that journeys like this inspire and encourage us to look for new places or go back to old places where we can find beautiful memories we have left before. To fly, to seek new adventures, to get lost and to live the life of our dreams, that’s the beauty of travel.
