Magic city, the name was first created by a thirties century Japanese author(Shōfu Muramatsu) who wrote the novel called ‘Magic City’ that is about Shanghai. Shanghai is a magnificent city that combines multinational architectures and cultures within a town. It is got its modern part, like skyscrapers, but also antique aspects, like concessions. Most of you have been to New York city before. The critical point is that you see skyscrapers and tall buildings one after another, then it is the busy traffic and the messy blocks. Think of Shanghai as the same but newer while its historical elements are retained.
Here is a little background of the city. Shanghai is one of the most populous city in the world with approximately 24 million population. The city located on the east coast of China bounded by the east China sea. Our economy is mainly based on port trading. Before the Qing government, Shanghai first belonged to the Kingdom of Wu. A fishing village later got recognized at the end of the Optimum war when the United Kingdom and Qing signed an unequal treaty. This allows may following western countries like France, Italy, and America to have settlements spread over Shanghai. Today, because of its located on the port which is a great advantage of trading, Shanghai is already the fourth most competitive city in Asia after Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. Many people have been to Shanghai with a tourist group or maybe checked out some of the mainstream landmarks like The Bund. In this blog, I will keep updating new cool spots to check out with photographs and literal tour guides. I will show you what is 'magic' in this city.
