8.39 am About to leave the sealed Sturt Highway onto the dust of the Carpentaria Highway. The bike is fully loaded for the challenges ahead.

3.30 pm Mataranka: In the heat of the day which was nearing 50 degrees this kangaroo was trying to keep cool by resting under the pool table. The sunlight beaming in gives an impression of how warm it was. I was going to darken the light but I feel it adds to the sense of how warm it was.

1.22 pm Kynuna. In North West Queensland with the temperature hovering around 45 degrees, there is nowhere to hide from the sun. There are no hills, no trees, no features to contrast the photo against, just the scrub, road and sky.
