Taking it all in at the jaw-dropping Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
I do not take vacations or holidays—I travel.
I can see the mistake, particularly in Spanish where traveling is often translated to vacaciones. But vacation is not traveling because traveling is hard, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
I was born with genuine curiosity and a fearless investigative spirit that has attracted me like the +/- charge of a magnet towards compelling stories at home and abroad.
During a recent four-month trip to South America, I told in-depth stories using the Internet as my megaphone. For a local website in Montreal, I updated an intriguing multimedia travel column. In Bolivia, I wrote, edited, designed and photographed for an English magazine and filed a freelance article for a major US website. My final forum for travel journalism was a blog called “Retərik and Journalism,“ which featured a personal elucidation of nearly everything that I did.
Even if my writing changes the perspective of a single reader, I believe that I will have done my job!
