My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Nepal | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos

The moment I started travelling I was seduced by the incredible images that I was surrounded by, with my greatest joy coming from trying to capture an image that evokes the feeling of the places I have visited and takes me back once I have left.

My first travel photos were taken with a Pentax point & shoot film camera. When I look back at those images now my only regret is that I didn't take more shots, but what can you do shooting film on a backpacker budget.

Over the years my photography has improved and when I'm travelling each day's purpose to to try to get that one really amazing shot, often to the point of obsession.
I love to capture the diversity of the people and landscapes of the planet. In celebrating and embracing the differences we can only hope to inspire more tolerance. By bringing back a part of the world with me in my photos and sharing the stories I can only hope to help achieve this in some small way.

Like most in this competition, my dream job is to be a travel photographer, and this scholarship would be an amazing step in that direction. I have so much to learn and what a way to get things started I can't wait to get to Oman and start shooting.
