Side verandah on villa

Apologies for the gap in the blog. Yesterday I had a slight tummy bug which has gone now.

I was however gald to have some time to enjoy our villa in Argegno, which is in such a spectacular position overlooking the everchanging views of the lake and mountains, and with doors opening straight onto a long balcony to catch the breeze.

Today we took the ferry to Villa Carlotta, an elegant mansion on the lakeside with beautiful gardens and plants from all over the world including Australia. This stunning villa was bought for Princess Carlotta, but she only was able to visit once or twice and died in her early twenties. The lake has been a favourite haunt for many composers, including Mendelssohn, Schumann, Liszt, Puccini and Verdi who all enjoyed staying at Villa Carlotta.
