Not much sleep does wonders,,, or not.
Mary, the wife of jock, at one said we needed to talk. So I thought crap what did I do. I guess my dear person before me forgot to tell me something. Anyways, I got my cleaning to do.
Oeh, I figured the perfect place to put my keys when I don’t have a pocket. My keys I put on my hairband and when I don’t have a pocket, and then they are in my hair.
I heard yesterday that my boss is selling the place, and today buyers are coming. I met the buyers and they are really nice.
The shift today was interesting. It started off very silent. Like nothing to do. And then when it was 5.45 people started to come. Today from 6-7 it was happy hour just like on Monday and Tuesday but today we also had the chook raffle. So with every drink you buy, you get a ticket and at around 7.10 two numbers will be picked and get the chooks. Chooks are chickens by the way. The funny thing is got 4 tickets from two men who didn’t want to stay for the raffle. When I picked the first number, I was like ‘ffff, I saw that number a minute ago,’’ it was one of the numbers I had gotten. So I had won the first chook. It truly is torture when you have the ready to eat chickens behind you, so I was surprised and excited I won one. The second one was won by a local. Bill found it hilarious that I won and I was way to hyper. Didn’t eat today as before the raffle I got my tea. Whilst eating my tea, a Mr., who was supposed to be in shark bay, scared me to death. Disco poked me and went to drink… pretty funny he left me a tip. By the way Australians don’t tip. So when you get a tip, it’s rare.
During my shift at one point I got to bored that I went and snooped around the bar, to find a cute little piggy. I honestly did not know that it was a piggy bank till it said ‘bernies tips’. So later that night I asked who that was, and my boss said she used to work here a year ago… so I told him that there was still money in there, which he was surprised about. So I got the piggy and showed him. He told me to put the money in my tip jar. So now I am 12 dollars richer in tips. I have in my tip jar around 28 dollars. I must be doing something right especially because I have been here for 1.5 weeks. I’ll empty my tips at the end of the month.
Oh yeah, I got called today by one of our guests from last week. His car had broken down last week and was staying at the hotel. Well now I’m meeting up with him tomorrow, as he promised me some sketches and we are going to discuss poetry

10 years ago in Bali, there was a terrorist attack (bombing) that killed 88 Australians. In total 202 people were killed from multiple nationalities. But it has been said that the Australians were targeted and it has been the biggest terrorist attack that Australia has been involved in or seen. Well today, in Bali, is the 10 year anniversary memorial. This morning I watched a bit of the memorial service.
Anyways I have to go to the poetry meeting at 11. Cleaning today was a waste of time I thought… or actually I just think she wants me to do something instead of nothing. I get that, but why make me do something that you can finish in 15 min. I had to clean 6 doors, inside and outside.
I heard that other chook that we had given away yesterday was partially raw. So me being curious went to the fridge and took my chook and tried to break the legs off. It looks fine I believe. I will have to see tonight when I eat it. But oh my, it smells sooooo good. I will be eating that with a salad. I told my boss that I am sharing it with him and his wife. It may be a small chook but three people can feast of it.
I still found Wednesday funny. When bill went outside for a smoke and to ask his wife about me coming to dinner. Apparently he bumped into disco and said: I’m taking Jasha home with me. Where Disco reacted shocked and annoyed. Was pretty funny. Next week Disco is making tea for me on the Wednesday… he says he is making kangaroo… this will be fun XD. The week after that I am cooking stampot for bill and his wife Morac. And probably the week after that I will be cooking for Disco… hahaha, when disco found out that in two weeks I’m cooking at bill’s he was shocked… he thought I would be at his cooking there… hopefully he forgets :P or at least I hope he forgets. I am still thinking if I should make stampot or Luc’s favorite dish as bill loves mashed potatoes and I do miss it.
That was one interesting two hours. He liked my poetry; he said it was truly inspiring. I didn’t like his poetry much… probably as I didn’t get it. I didn’t get the meaning or what it was about. We had pie and banana milk whilst talking about poetry and then he treated me to a cinnamon roll. Pie here is healthy… it’s like a meat pie. I bought some chips today and am going to see if I can last long enough not to open it. Want to try to open it next week. This weekend I’m going to be healthy as this week hasn’t been the healthiest. Next week I will do more biking then I have done. I am going to try to go to the lake which is like 30 km further. Bike there then eh.
Tonight is ‘toss the boss’ so that will be interesting. Wondering how many people are going to come now.
Well the shift was pretty interesting. I gave some free beers away… during toss the boss. Sometimes they had it right and sometimes wrong but to the ones that were nice I just gave the beers for free and always when my boss went for a smoke… sneaky but it was fun. It wasn’t that busy till 9-10 o’clock. Most were older locals.
One of the locals, who always brings me roses, offered to take me around Beverley. Which of course I accepted. Another couple, Mick and deb, offered to take me on Wednesday to Northam. Which I also accepted.
One of the locals was funny… well I thought it was funny. Probably because I knew he had loads to drink. I asked him what he would want and he said a mid-stubby and the girl behind the bar XD
I thought I was going to clean and be free early… that didn’t happen. My shift ended at 12.20. Around 10 the young people started to come inside. At one point it was quiet and my boss said I could get myself a drink and sit with some. I made myself a midori /vodka and redbull drink. I was introduced to Joey and Matt. Joey used to be a backpacker here, but she stuck around as she started dating Matt. It was really entertaining to see the drunk kids. At least they were having fun. I did get one drink from them. It was a vodka redbull.
Anyways I’m off to bed. Really tired.
By the way, the chicken was delicious but the cook got too excited. She gave me a quarter of the chicken, French fries with cheese and parmigana saus and a side salad. Well at least I can say it was a balanced meal. Might do that tonight also, or maybe just the salad and chicken.
13 October
Today after my quick cleaning free, I was prepared to go with the bike to the Avondale discovery farm. After asking my bosses how to ride there, they both gave me different directions. So I called the man john who offered to take me. I’m glad that I went with car as the roads we were on would have killed the bike. The Avondale farm was kind of disappointing. There were hardly any animals. All that I saw was a couple of weird chickens, ducks, emus, sheep and two horses. The tracks we followed with the car were for 4 wheeled drives.
Before seeing most of the animals, I looked around the machinery. We got to see the tractors and other machinery they used to use. Most of the objects dated back to 1927, but some to 1875.
As of Monday I will be riding around the place for a minimum of 30 minutes as fitness. Also to photograph the place more.
After the Avondale discovery farm, john showed me more of Beverley. She showed me the garbage dump, the sewer, the race tracks, the golf course (got you a ball mum), the tennis course, the hockey/cricket/rugby course, the rifle course and the gliding course. I am kind of tempted to go do the gliding. It is kind of pricey. It costs between the 150-180 dollars. Which is pricey when you are trying to save money.
Oeh, one thing I forgot to say yesterday. Yesterday one of the locals (another Russell) asked me what work I will be looking for back in Perth. He has a son who works as a supervisor at a ‘chique’ hotel (Windsor). He is going to ask him if they will need new employers. So maybe I can work there. And I am guessing that the pay there is better. If I do get an interview there I might just have to ask what it’s like to work on a public holiday, as in if you get paid more than usual. If that is the case, I am sold… unless it’s crappy pay. It’s handy when the locals want to help you out with finding a good job.
Ok well I decided that I am staying till after the harvest festival. Meaning the 25th is my last day. Which is a Sunday. Everyone tells me I should go to the harvest festival and that it is worth it. Begin November I’m going to tell them that that will be my last week.
Today I have been here two weeks. Time does fly by quickly. If it goes quicker I’m happy. I’ll be happy when I get out of here. The people are nice, but the internet service here is crap and there is hardly anything to do here. I miss my independence. Yes I have a bike, but I can’t go to the other towns with my bike. In Perth we have the openbaar vervoer. Here we don’t have a bus or anything that goes to the other towns. I have to ask the locals, which I don’t want to bother them with. I’ll be glad when I get to go back and get my independence and freedom back.
Anyways I’m going to take a little nap before my shift starts. Am really tired. Last night didn’t sleep well either. I am hoping I get to sleep well soon. Anyways I’ll type later.

Last night’s shift was really boring. Only a couple of people but there were a couple of events going on around town. There was an engagement party, the biker’s party and film night. All the police were at the biker’s party; apparently it gets really out of hand there at times. We don’t have many police here, so police from other towns and Perth come over. The police cars are like those from Hawaii 5 o. they are not blue and white and have lights on the top of their cars. They cars that are one color and have flashy lights in their lights.
There was one guy who stuck around and had the same kind of dinner as I did. A kiwi. We watched grownups on the TV. He told me what he wants to do with farming. To be honest I dozed off half way. Didn’t get it anymore.
Anyways since I didn’t tell you exactly what Avondale is, I will tell you now. Lost my brochure yesterday but got it back.
Avondale discovery farm was founded in 1830s. It was assigned to the first governor of the swan river colony. Just remember that Australia is still fairly new. The English stole it from us. The Egyptians were the first to locate but the Dutch mapped it. And then the English (captain cook) took it for theirs.
Anyways Avondale had multiple wealthy owners during the 19th century that saw it grow to 5260 hectares in size. In 1910 Avondale was purchased by the lands department .after the world war, Avondale was subdivided and sold to returning soldiers. In 1924 the remaining 705 hectares was used as a research station and demonstration farm. This was issued by the department of agriculture. In 2009 the research station was closed and the national trust f Australia took it over. The farm now I only open during some school holidays, special events and on appointment. I find that a shame. Animals you won’t see much off like I said yesterday.
I have now three nicknames. They are duchess, shutterbug and crackers. Duchess was because graem keeps forgetting my name… don’t get why duchess though. Shutterbug is because people see me with my camera everywhere and I don’t part with it much. Crackers because two locals remembered that way my name. Apparently there was a terrorist called Jasa ‘cracks’ Arafat. Never heard of it, maybe you have.
As of tomorrow I’m on the healthy spree. Soft drinks and chips (also cookies) in the weekend. French fries once in the weekend. Healthy food during the week. So loads of salads and fruit. Loads of water and tea. Muesli during the week and in the weekend I can have one of the other two. Weetabix I’m also allowed during the week.
Morgen lekker stampot maken. Moet aardappelen, wortels halen, en dan wat lekkere gehakt. Lekker en gezond. Heb ook gezegt dat ik wat voor de chef zou maken. Misschien maak ik ook wat voor mijn bazen. Mmm heb er nu al zin in.
Basically I decided that I wanted to do more fitness. Then I remembered that the old courthouse is now a gym. So I asked one of the locals about it and he called his friend brad. Apparently normally you would need to go to the doctor and get a medical certificate. Then you would new to go to the town hall and pay a fee to get the key and use the gym. But Brad’s wife is looking for a gym buddy for 3-4x a week. I would so love to be a gym buddy as it will be free then. Brads wife is an ex Olympic gymnast. Which found really interesting. I hope she finds it ok if I will be here gym buddy.
I at salad for dinner and tried the beef jerky. Beef jerky is not my thing. Just like Jack Daniels is not my thing. I don’t get how people like that drink. Anyways I’m off to watch some TV and then go to bed. Night all.
15 October
Morning all… I think I have slept a bit more than normal. Not sure if it’s the exhaustion taking over or I’m becoming more relaxed. I don’t think it’s the relaxed part but I do hope that I get to sleep more.
Yesterday after my shift I found that some of the guests forgot their shampoo and hair mask…. So I got them… they are the expensive type so I was happy. For that kind of shampoo you would pay here like 8-10 dollars and for the hair mask 10-15 dollars so I’m glad I got them free and there was like more than half still in the bottle.
I had to clean four rooms today, which isn’t bad but my back was starting to hurt again, otherwise I would have done the two remaining rooms. The two remaining rooms I will do tomorrow.
After my usual cleaning I went to the store to get the stuff for tea/dinner. Spent 12 dollars on it. When I got back I started to cook because I can’t cook at night as I have to work :P I have everything made and plasticized… even the gravy… mmm it looked really good and tasted even better. I get to make more food with carrots and potatoes. Maybe one of these days I will make some potatoes with steak and salad. Mmmmm… healthy sounds goooooooood.
Lunch I made peanut butter jelly sandwich. Except I put it in the microwave for 20 seconds.
Think tomorrow I will do a wash. Once a week a wash.
I have to talk to scotty today as the number he gave me for the woman isn’t right… got a man on the phone who isn’t her or her husband so have to get the right number as I really don’t want to miss out. Even Miss Polly said I should do MORE fitness so that maybe will help with sleeping.
Ok, so my bosses loved my cooking which was a way too big of a surprise for me. Apparently it reminds them of home. Apparently they have something like it but instead of carrots, they have turnips. They said next time I should make something with carrots, cabbage and turnips… what is the name of turnips in Dutch? Because right now I have no clue what turnips are?
Haha so plans change and omg (dad that means oh my god) you are going to love this, or probably you’re going to laugh just thinking about how this can go wrong in so many ways. Instead of going to northam tomorrow, I’m going to chase and catch sheep and be paid for it. So on my free day I am going to be working for 2hours for 25dollars/h. instead of spending money I will be making some…. One of the locals asked if I wanted to have a job on Wednesday. I was first thinking if he was serious about it and he is. The farmer he was with needed some people. 2 hours’ work will get me around 50 bucks... now that is nice. Especially cause I really don’t want to spend much, and get more is just fun. That means instead of being online on Wednesday, I will be online on Thursday. Or so I hope.
I found it funny. I keep complaining about how the commercials back home are long but here they come so often. After a series has started, 5 minutes late commercial…. So annoying. Oh yeah and sometimes what you see in the ‘tvgids’ doesn’t come. So I was really hoping that my show would show up. It did but 15mins late… grr. At least it was worth it. HAWAII 5 0!!!!!!!!!!
16 October
Something that I forgot to type yesterday is that on Thursday I’m going to Querty, which is a place south of Beverley. One of the guests that stayed with us, who I also had the poetry day with, is picking me up and going to show me round. On top of that, I get a banana cake… whoooooo… free banana cake and tea (lunch). They call every dinner, lunch, breakfast here tea, so it can be very confusing.
So Wednesday catching sheep and Thursday Querty… it is beginning to get interesting here. By the way, I have to catch the sheep as they are getting tested by diseases. I probably will fall a multiple of times before catching some. Graem, who asked if I wanted the job, is also going to be there and will be snapping pictures. So don’t worry, you’ll get some embarrassing pictures and probably loads of stories about how I failed.
I figured out this morning that I don’t have any old shirts, so I asked one of the locals bill if he could bring me one of his. He is. Way too happy. You don’t pack old shirts. I’ll probably just use one of my leggings for old pants, just because they are old and I don’t have anything else that is old as most of the stuff we packed is new.
Graem told me today I have to eat loads. Not really planning on doing that. Oeh since I’m talking about that… I had bought licorice today, as I missed it. KARMA. It was nasty so I tossed it out… I am not buying any more stuff this week besides an old shirt on Friday at the 2nd hand store for incase.
I got angry today… I asked Scotty if he could try and get the right number and he answered: ‘some people have to work, I will get it eventually.’ That annoyed me. I work 6 days a week and I asked him during my work and I not working WTF. This time I get to curse. I really can’t stand that. And eventually, when is that???! When I leave?
The exhaustion of having no sleep is taking over. Or hardly any sleep, 1-2 hours’ sleep a night is not the healthiest and I am really breaking down cause of it. I’m hoping after the chasing the sheep part of the day, that it will help me sleep. That will be my two hours sleep. Oh yeah. Tomorrow one of the younger locals I cooking roasted lamb as he said yesterday. Oh yeah and pretty funny, he actually got me a rose, which caught me off guard. The rose was quite big and smelled good. He got it from his mum’s garden. He and his roommate are pretty cheeky. They had a bet and I didn’t feel like answering to their bet.
17 October
Today after yet again a brutal night, I woke up feeling miserable. I really don’t get why I can’t sleep. It’s getting really frustrating. I can feel my body slowly giving up due to the lack of sleep.
Anyways, after a horrible sleep yet again. I woke up at 7.50, to snooze off till 8.20. I had a quick breakfast and ran outside with my stuff. I thought I would take some water and a towel because you never know.
Graem was late but he picked me up. He was supposed to pick me up at quarter to nine but came a nine. So we got to the farm at 9.20 but no vet. Or actually it was someone from the government. The sheep were getting tested on foot rot. Drafting the sheep was fun. The tilting and caring the sheep was painful, tiring and for me impossible. I tried flipping it but it didn’t work, when it did work I couldn’t drag it.
I saw the birth of a baby lamb. So cute. Watched it the first half an hour. Of how it tries to stand up but trips and falls, how it tries to find the milk and how the mum licks him clean. Cute little colorful lamb.
After watching it (and taking pictures) for a bit we went to have coffee. I got a soda… coffee blegh. After that I guess I pushed my limits. First it was just drafting the lambs. Some lambs are big but also have horns. Drafting them was fun. The part after that was tiring. I had to lift them and pass them on to graem. But after a while it was going to slow so graem dragged and placed the lambs. I then had to scrape and guess what, vaccinate the lambs. First I found it awkward and hard. But then I got the hang of piercing the skin... Awkward... Now I know how doctors feel when they inject people… felt so weird.
I was annoyed when I left. I was told I was getting paid and then suddenly I didn’t get paid. I suddenly was doing it for free. That really annoyed me. If I knew he was suddenly going to change his mind I would not have gone. I would have gone to Northam. I like the experience but that kind of work for 4.5 hours I’m not doing for free. I was extremely pissed off but yeah can’t do much about it anymore. It’s done but I am still pissed off I fell for the trap and that the locals like to think they can use the backpackers. I needed the money :’(
I guess I had the crappiest day today. Also night. It was all right. Remember I had this dinner thing that night. Well I didn’t go after one point. When I got to the pub I gave bill his free round. I then got a free round from him. After that I went outside and sat alone till snacks a.k.a snags asked me to come and sit with them and have a drink. He bought me a drink and I got to snack from the snacks that were on the table from the pub for the customers. The snacks were all right. Half of them were. The sausage bread was gross. It had no taste. The kalamares were all right but they will never be better than the Greek kalamares. After some time the guy I was supposed to be having dinner with started making fun of the dinner and it started to annoy me. He then started to ignore and be mean so I just figured it was happening. I stayed for another hour before I left. The comedian which was there was a mean bastard so I left.
Besides having a bad day, I was tired.
18 October
I am really frustrated that I haven’t gotten the time to send my journal. My week has just been weird. And when I wanted to go online I couldn’t or there was hardly any time. I guess next week I will update my journal. I was happy I got to Facebook chat dad.
I am way too tired to do anything.
Anyways that querty thing is actually called Quairading. It’s like 45-60min from Beverley. The way there is beautiful. Loads of farmland and open space. The names of the streets are funny like McDonalds and other names. I still have to find a lakeman street. That will be hilarious. There is a hardware store in Quairading which is called New Holland. I prefer the way Quairading looks over Beverley. Plus it has more stuff. It has a club and more tourist attractions. Also more fitness places. I preferred to have stayed there then in Beverley.
Terry the man I was visiting showed me his cottage and offered me some tea. After some time I got bored so decided to investigate his place. That being his closets. I had found the food closets and straight away saw the mess. So I decided to clean it up and it was appreciated by terry. There was expired food from 2004. Most of the food was expired. The rest I sorted. After that his friend Theresa came. She is a nice woman. She is originally Dutch but her parents never taught her to speak Dutch. One of her sisters lives in Beverley and is the Dutch woman I was told about.
Anyways Theresa gave me two banana cakes and terry gave me a chocolate cake. I came with one bag and left with three… no one wants me on a diet. I’m getting really frustrated cause of it. I really just want to lose loads of weight and have more fitness. I guess as of next week I have 5 weeks that I am going to do that. I am not going to eat much and do loads of exercise. I will bike loads and dink loads of water. But just eat breakfast and dinner with a small snack/fruit for lunch. That way I will save money and feel good about it.
The chips I have now I will round them up and give the little packets to the little kids as I don’t want to have them anymore. I had gotten some dried banana flakes which also had expired but I figured they wouldn’t change in taste, they did. I just might toss them out. The waffles I may eat as I want the tin and otherwise just toss them out. I tossed some of the cheezels out after trying them even though they were expired.
The chocolate cake is nearly gone. I gave half to one of the cooks, a quarter to a local woman. I gave a quarter of the banana cake to Mary and jock. I still have 1 ¾ of banana cake and a small quarter of chocolate cake. But I will be giving more away.
Besides the chip and the cakes, I got: noodles, pudding mix, crackers, waffles and vegetables. The vegetables I am eating. Veronica is making me some very healthy dinner tomorrow.

The shift at work today was interesting. I really got to know the assholes in Beverley. Seedy I still think is the meanest. He got the guys around Beverley believing that I am really easy and would just date anyone. He loves to spread rumors. I really have the urge to kill him. I would love to smack him.
I really didn’t think that disco thought the dinner yesterday was a date, especially after I said I didn’t want to date. I thought I explained enough after he texted me (don’t get how he got my number) but I guess they love to feel like the bigger man and humiliate you to all the locals. They like to joke around. I didn’t find it funny at all, I felt attacked by disco and seedy. Seedy is the worst. He talks to me like I’m a tramp and really stupid.
I finally I met the notorious uggie. The one who lost most of his face during an accident that could have killed him. I wasn’t happy to meet him. He is so impatient and as a drunk he is an asshole. He is another miner. He is a fly in fly out. Well at least he will be gone for another three weeks. Well I am glad he said he is gay. Even though I have no clue why he said it over and over again. After a lot of drinks he got really mean. Again with the comparing to the previous backpacker. That the service is crap whilst I have three sides to take care off. He thinks he is a VIP. He spends money like it doesn’t matter and you can really see it. Most of the locals here like the races and he loves betting on the races too. For some reason he gave me money for a drink. And another two dollar tip, so I just put it in my tip jar. I think I have over 55 dollars in it now. I will empty the tip jar after a month and put it with the rest of my money which I hid in my ski hat. Yes I took it along. Will remind me of you guys.
I got another 6 tickets for the chook raffle and my number was picked again but I gave the numbers to another local and they were happy with the chook.
19 October
Today cleaning was a typical bore. Just scrub the shower and clean the floors and clean up the flies. Didn’t have breakfast as there was no more milk again. Second day in the row.
I had a weird sleep. First my closet opened when I know closed it, my TV sound turned on, then a bag fell out of the closet and stuff fell off my bed. Yeah it was not my night again and it was really creepy again. I will definitely put the salt in my room. Just have not to forget it tonight after my shift.
Anyways today as you must have realized it I’m updating journal as I haven’t been able to go online or be on my computer. I’m also cleaning up my room. ‘
Oh yeah, yesterday I got a sowing kit from one of the locals so I can fix some holes. Like my black vest, my grey vest and my blue bodytalk shorts. Will have to fix it one of these days, probably tomorrow.
I also sorted the food I got yesterday which I told you about. I took the small chip packets and put them in a bag so that I can give them to some little kids during my work. That way I won’t feel like I am going to eat them during a binge moment. I want to get all the food away. Most of the unhealthy food which I got was expired a couple of months, I tossed them away so that I could feel some strength knowing I could do that. I seriously have to get myself some apples as the oranges I have to do a lot of peeling for and it takes a lot of time for me to do that. Plus I can’t seem to peel the oranges like daddy does. I threw away the dry bananas. They didn’t get better even though I put them in a Tupper ware box. I cleaned out my bin this morning but I guess I will do it again before I go to work. I will also get myself a piece of that delicious banana cake. I had a bite this morning and it tasted delicious. Theresa said next time she would make speculaas. I am not saying no to that, I really miss that. More than I missed banana cake. You can get them here but it will cost you 5 dollars for one packet.
Tomorrow I will sow the holes shut tomorrow. Let’s see what tonight will bring during the evening of toss the boss.
20 October
I honestly have no clue what my shift was like yesterday as my migraine attack started. So it’s a bit vague. I know it was pretty late but not as late as last week. Slept just like always, crap.
Today I had hardly anything to do so I had an ok morning. Today is going to be an interesting day. I was sitting in the dining room and I heard it was pretty noisy so I know this will be an entertaining long day. As I didn’t tell you this yesterday, I am working from 13.00 alone so everything I wanted to do I can’t as I will be working.
I honestly hope you guys are thinking of me as I know now because of the noise I am screwed. My boss and his wife are going bowling (not out version, but the one where they have to get as close to the white ball as possible). Don’t get what the fun in that is but oh well.
Today in town is the tractor pull. If I didn’t have to work I would have gone, but yeh, oh well. Hopefully there will be loads of other interesting events. I was hoping that it wouldn’t be that busy today but I forgot the betters. Betting in this town is so popular. And they come in flocks.
Today is the second day of my migraine attack and it burns. It’s really frustrating. I know this is cause of the lack of sleep. I am really thinking that it is anxiety like Polly said. I don’t feel safe here.
Ok, so going to work was a little different. I said hi to my boss and he said: don’t mind him in the corner, pointing to box. I seriously thought it was a snake. But they call it here a bobtail. The actual name is a blue tongues lizard. I called it dragon. As it reminded me of a dragon in the film how to train a dragon or was it in harry potter. Just reminded me of a dragon.
The thought of having it there spooked me, especially as it was a spot that I had to go to loads. He lay under the cash register of the betting machines. Which I had to go to often as I had to redeem vouchers. I liked it when it didn’t move. At one point it started to move and it scared the crap out of me as the box started to move and his head was right in between the wall and the box. Jade, one of the daughters of a regular Brad, was also very curious. Mick was there and at one point didn’t tell me it had moved closer, so I turned the corner and it scared the crap out of me and I walked the other way round. Of course the locals loved it and laughed. Brad wanted to chase me with it if it would be there at night as his brother and law and best mate would be there too. Evil!!!! At one point I was helping Roy with the jukebox and we saw the lil dragon pop around the corner. Roy went to pick it up and he held it still so I could see the blue tongue. He then brought outside. Couple of minutes later I heard that the lil dragon ended up in the ladies toilets, so Roy and jade went off to find it.
Meanwhile I had a busy pub to attend to. Some very impatient drunks too and some drunks who loved to tease. Also some betters who couldn’t read. One gave me a voucher to redeem. It said 0.35 but he thought it said 35, so I got into an argument about that, showed brad the proof so he knew that I wasn’t lying. Some people seriously try to get the money from you. At least I have some nice locals around me to support me.
Brad, who was getting fairly drunk at 15.00 hadn’t had any food so I offered him my banana cake so he could sober up a bit. He appreciated it and accepted it. Later in the evening I helped him out again but giving him a rose to give to his wife who was a bit angry at him.
Jade, the little girl, helped me out sometimes so I gave her a free packet of chips and can of lemonade (its soda). Her granddad, Ray, was really surprised and told me I have a heart of gold and that I am a very genuine person and I should never change for anyone. I later on gave her my laptop to use, so she could watch a movie as she was here since 13.00 and she left at 19.30. She got to watch the sword in the stone. I told her next time she is here that she should ask for me, so she can watch some films instead of bore herself. Brad and her granddad Ray were yet again surprised when I offered that. Pretty funny, when I went to get my laptop, one of her younger brothers Riley, followed me to my room.
Mick and I shared a beer together. A Carlton yellow/lemon. He also offered to show me around. If wanted somewhere to go he or his wife would take me.
Whoo I got 10 dollars in tips… he he... don’t mind it. My boss came back at 19.00. At the end of my shift which was like at 21.30 my boss complimented me on that I sold loads and that probably was because of my personality. I found that nice to hear. Even though it’s pretty easy as a girl to sell alcohol to a drunk person. I also got loads of compliments from customers and locals about how I handled everything.
One of the locals, the towns butcher Bryan, wanted mums number to compliment her for me. Loads of the locals keep saying if they were ‘X’ number of years younger they would marry me. Find it so funny to hear.
I annoyed one of the other locals. At one point toy story was on and seedy + bill were sitting, forced to watch it. Seedy asked for the remote but I didn’t give it. I just switched so he gave me the silent treatment. Hallelujah. He gets he really annoying. Later on I came back to fill up his beer and he said he wasn’t talking to me and his lips were sealed. So I said that’s good, that he should do it more often. The guys who were with him laughed whilst his eyes spit fire.
For dinner I had chicken parmigana without cheese with French fries. It was weekend and I allow myself to have it once a week. I had a side salad (some silver beat and beans and some other food). One of these days, when I go on the internet, I will research some healthy salads and some very low carb foods for my strict diet. I seriously have to finish my oranges one of these days XD.
My boss calls me now miss piggy and I do not like it. He eats unhealthy all the time. He is calling me miss piggy. I have been eating healthy. It’s because of all the food I got. Most of it I gave away. I had three cakes. I gave the chocolate cake away in three pieces. I gave ¼ cake of banana cake to my boss, ½ a banana cake to one of the cooks, ¼ to a little kid who attacked it as soon as it was in front of him. Another half I shared with locals. ¼ I gave to deb. Now I have the rest and took 3-4 pieces and cut the rest up to offer to the customers tonight. The little packets of chips I gave away to some passing customers with kids. They were surprised to get them. The chocolate waffles I threw away and use the tin as my money tin. Most of the other food I tossed or gave away. I just have some natural crackers in my closet and a packet of chips I bought two weeks ago.
My feet are dying so I am going to sleep or I hope. Finished watching Charlie and the chocolate factory. Monster in law is on soon.

Sleep was the worst it ever has been. I am really doubting if I am able to sleep after last night. I think I went to sleep around midnight. I just couldn’t sleep. When I came to my room yesterday my head started to spin. Anyways I think I woke up around two in shock so sleeping was light and soon after there was loads of noise and someone was banging on the doors as if to break in. after that I didn’t sleep. But can you blame me. I told Mary this and she found it weird. She didn’t hear anything. No shit Sherlock, you sleep heavy. Still too spooked to sleep and I’m extremely tired. The migraine attack isn’t helping. Third day I do not like the no sleep. I am getting worried cause of it. I feel sleepy all the time and when people annoy me I can get really quickly annoyed. If it keeps going like this I feel my body will be broken at the end of the 8 weeks.
Today I start normally, at 4.30. Let’s hope I will be awake then. I’m really, really tired.
Saw there is an ipad mini coming out. They reckon it’s going to cost around 250 dollars. I might get one, am really thinking of getting one. Just want to know how small mini is. But If I do get one, I will get one after my 8 weeks of working. It will be out end of October.
Tuesday off to Quairading again. This time I will not take food back home.
The shift was traumatic and painful. As soon as the locals starting to flow in, the drunkards started to increase. Sometimes it really wasn’t fun. At one point big brother was on but I wasn’t in the mood to switch so I took the remote from the guys and put it away, slamming my finger between the door and the cupboard. After pouring more drinks most of the locals were getting drunk and one violent. Seedy got pissed off that I took away the remote and got behind the bar and tried to take the remote away. He grabbed me tightly and tried to take it away. I was glad jock came because my arm was really hurting. Eventually I switched it as my arm really hurt and I was scared. Later that night it got even more interesting when peter and bryan. The butchers entered the pub. I will call peter a flasher now because that is what he did.
At the end of my shift I got to cuddle gypsy, whilst her boss talked to jock and disco.
22 october
Its pretty fascinating that I actually had a good night sleep. Todays weather is weird. Its really cloudy. Yesterday was 31 degrees and today 20. It’s a bit chilly. But like I put in my agenda. I have to cycle.
9 o’clock it was and all I had to do was dust. So at quarter past 10 I left with my bike and cycled my way around town. I had cycled an hour when my peddle fell off. So there I was in the middle of nowhere with one peddle on my bike. I cycled up and down mountains. So I called the owner. He thought I went off track after I tried to explain where I was. I guess they got it wrong but he was saying it was fucking stupid… and at one point hung up. After a while of walking, after they said they would pick me up. I bumped into some locals and they offered to fix my bike.
p.s the bike they gave me has an oily seat. So the people I bumped into there offered to fix that problem too. They got some sheep fur and put that on my seat. I offered to sow it on later. They said that was smart and just taped it on.
When I got back to the pub. I had been out for 2 hours. 1 ½ hours of biking, 30 minutes of fixing the bike. So I went to do some grocery shopping. I got some apples and some cereal bars. I then transferred the kj in cal so I know how many calories I will be eating. I bought three different bars and put them in a box. So I can have one bar a day and one fruit. Today I had some chocolate.
As of tomorrow or today I will be keeping a food diary also.
I went to the shire and asked about how much it would cost me to use the gym. Pretty fascinating that for a trial you have to pay 40 bucks for 30 days. Way too much and not worth it. I will use to the bike and the pool when it’s open then.
23 october
Quairading was fun once again.
Terry picked me up at 9 and I got to fix some technology problems which he was having. I fixed his wireless problem as he kept locking the device. Then I fixed his e-reader because he is a slow reader. Had to set his shutting time to 20 minutes as he was complaining that his reader kept shutting off as he read.
I ate rabbit today. With trifle as desert. Theresa is next week showing me how a real trifle looks like. I had wine today. White wine. White, sparkling wine. White, fruity, sparkling, nice wine.
Work was really boring today. Only 4 locals showed up. Everybody was hoping for the winning lottery ticket. But everyone lost. The 50 mil didn’t fall through. Now it is 70 mil. Had a very early night. But then the fire alarm suddenly went off and my remote stopped working. Oh well better than nothing I guess.
24 october
I got to see the kangaroos today. After hearing Graems sister talk about dead people and having them not bounce and al the vague things I got to go outside and meet the kangaroos (roos). Robin, Graem’s sister, used to get wildlife from other people to take care of. She also has two Chihuahuas that were dumped on her doorstep. One is kind of has a limp. She has 9 kangaroos. I got to touch one, the oldest. She just lay there and chilled. She has three kind of kangaroos. The small ones have a fox like face. One of the small ones was acting disoriented and I guessed she was blind, or either she had cataracts and was going blind. She was sniffing the air loads.
After seeing the kangaroos, Graem took me to his place. There my little friend Gypsy was. He fed a magpie some meat. I got to meet his wife.
Mary bitch….. Ok so Mary is the wife of the boss. She is the gloomiest little woman ever. She complains about everything. She wines about everything. Also on my free day she wines about stuff. Today about the fridge. How she can’t find stuff because my stuff is in the way… when my stuff I all on the bottom and the fridge is half empty… she also says I am not neat, which some people had to laugh about as I cleaned their closets for fun. My room is very neat.
Anyways before the witch ruined my mood. I went to bills place to cook the dinner as I wouldn’t know how capable I would be to make dinner after I had some drinks. I only had three drinks and I paid none. WOW, I actually paid zero. I got one from mick and two from disco (no surprise there).
Afterwards we went back to bill and moracs place and ate the dinner I cooked. Luc’s favorite. They liked it whooooooo. The desert was also nice. Banana cake with ice cream mmmm.
25 october
Today wasn’t really interesting, so this is going to be a short, very short entry.
Cleaning wise I had to clean the glass doors whoop. The rest of the day I biked a bit and slept, just to get some of my sleep back.
The shift was dead til 5.30, meaning I had nothing to do for an hour. Only had one customer who bought two takeaways. Afterwards a couple of people came. Really strange as it was only 8 people. Normally for the chook more people come but today not. I got another bag of roses from john and they smelt amazing.
I had a bet with disco but he never showed up meaning I won. I did get asked by Cullum why I brush disco off. They say he is trying so hard. Ehhh, I told him I’m not dating so it’s his problem that he doesn’t take no for an answer. To me it doesn’t look like he is trying.
Anyways when it got to the chook raffle, I picked two numbers and it turned out that one person had both of them. So one left with both chooks.
We thought that it would die down after the raffle, but no. the upper class youngsters came. At one point David asked jock if he could by me a drink. So I took a beer. 1st drink of the evening. We just chatted about everything. I then got to meet Jamey and Johnno. They were all so friendly. Brett , Neil, Matthew and joey I had met before. Joey was the American backpacker I spoke of before. She stayed as she started to date Matthew. So I sat with joey and Jamey. GIRL TIME. Nice to get to meet more people. Johnno and Jamey are together and so funny. Johnno tried to lock me in the cooler but without a lock. I had gotten one more beer and a pompom vodka. Pretty funny that this week I don’t have to pay for my drinks. Me and joey started to talk about Mary. She had troubles with her also but she spoke up. So it isn’t just me. That’s very relieving. Next time when she gives me hell, I will just speak up. We also spoke about jock and that he I becoming very senile. He is deaf in one ear (explains a lot). We both didn’t get why two elders took a pub in the first place but yeh. We both agreed he is not the boss when Mary is around.
I was invited to the full moon party on Saturday, but yeh I have to work. The interesting thing that was going to happen was cancelled also. Really stupid. Autocross is cancelled but yet again I have to start early as there is a big race tomorrow. Sunday I am also invited to hang out with joey and Matthew, so I will as soon as work has finished. That way I can have some fun of my own. She and I agreed we should bike together. She is also going to show me around her boyfriend’s farms. Matthew’s family is fairly rich. They 11000 hectares, which is big here as most, are between 5-7000 hectares. The harvest festival is starting soon, so joey said Matthew can show the harvest machines and what happens during the harvest. Matthew might do it or joey herself as she works 4 days a week in a café. Matthew here is also called Elmo.
The night ended at 12.30. So, fairly late for during the week. I had loads of fun and made some new acquaintances.
Tomorrow I will be online and I will be searching for a new place to make a blog and know how to edit it. As I really don’t get the one marije is on.
