"Keep door closed or all the dark will leak out" read the sign on the entry to my grandfather's darkroom. I can recall 'magically' a photo materializing as paper was submerged in a tray of chemicals. He would tell me about places he had visited as we looked through his National Geographics bound in brown bindings. Even then I dreamed of visiting the far away places that he had seen.
I'm far from being a pro photographer when it comes to technical settings or software, but I do enjoy composing a photo that will capture the experience, especially for those who likely will never visit that place. Whether clinging to an underwater ledge to get a macro photo of a tiny shrimp, taking 100s of photos of wildlife till an animal decides to move to the best position, or waiting hrs in a crowded slum for the right moment, all are a common occurrence during my travels.
I have high goals, and no matter what, I work hard to succeed in everything I set out to do. I'd probably roll the dice and risk it all to live my dreams, lose it all and risk it all over again. I've been shot at, stranded in the jungle, survived hours shipwrecked in the ocean, and yet I'm just getting started..the world awaits!
