I was born in Mexico, a country rich in history, natural resources and fauna. I have traveled to many parts within my country and I can say that my training as a photographer, apart from scarce courses, came from the images that I have got from my trips. My interests span from technology to fine arts. I study electronic engineering but my preferred activities involve music, cinema, photography, programming, as well as chinese, arabic and deutsch languages. My cultural background has given me me the oportunity to see things diferrently in every journey. That is why I consider myself a good candidate to win the scolarship. On the other hand, the chance to visit the Kingdom of Bhutan, supported by National Geographic, will be an starting point in my career as a photographer and a great way of learn and improve my skills.
My pictures tell a story called “Contemplation”, a title who refers a spiritual act as well as an aesthetic one, adjectives both involved in photography. The series begins with a sunny morning in an indian shop, near Lagunas de Montebello (Montebello Lagoon), Chipas, Mexico. On the second image a man from a town nearby get ready for his daily activities. On the third and fourth image the audience sits patienly in front of the landscape. The fog, the weather and the workers carry on their activities and enjoy the mother nature, a canyon pictured in the last image, taken in Cañon del Sumidero (Sumidero Canyon, Chiapas); the last photo express the overwhelming feeling of being in front of a great work of nature. In my story, the people watch their environment, work for it and enjoy the great mexican state called Chiapas.
