My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My Grandma inspired my passion for photography through hours spent gazing at family photos and hearing stories of bygone eras. Of times, people, and places I will never actually be able to experience personally, yet through the magic of photography I feel as if I am transported there. This was the foundation for my own desire to capture the essence of life, in order to educate and enrich the lives of others. Last year I left my job in finance to travel the world and I fell even more in love with photography; coupled with my passion for travel, the world became Technicolor when viewed through a lens. I want to go deeper, to expand, and be armed with knowledge and clearer sight of all the power and magic that is held within a camera. The scholarship would be an opportunity to learn first-hand from a renowned artist, to grow as an artist myself, and to incorporate the photography skills learned in my future career endeavors. I believe that if taken through a lens of compassion and gratitude a picture can be used to help foster a more loving and peaceful world. I want to spark curiosity, a yearning to learn about other cultures, and to inspire others to travel, to dream big…to wonder.
