Farewell Bangkok!

Jim Thompson's House

Jim Thompson was an American architect who came to Bangkok at the end of WWII. He fell in love with the Thai culture and decided to stay in Bangkok. He used several traditional Thai homes to create a home for himself. He used each Thai home as a different room (for example, one house was used for the living room, another for the bedroom, etc.). He also helped to develop Thai silk as an international industry. When he was 61, he traveled to Malaysia and disappeared, never to be seen again. His home is now open for visitors and is also used for rotating exhibits.
